CEU must be obtained between January 1, 2015 and December
31, 2016 to be credited for 2017 renewals. Individuals licensed as new
graduates or with endorsement in 2015 and 2016 are not required to complete CEU
for 2017 updates and start collecting in 2017 for 2019 updates. Individuals who
were previously inactive and returned their licenses in 2015 and 2016 are
required to complete continuing education between 1 January 2015 and 31
December 2016 for 2017 renewal. Further education used to return licenses
cannot be used for 2017 updates.
According to the Arkansas Physical Therapy Practice Act,
physical therapists must be complete, in every two years (two-year period), two
(2) CEU and also physical therapist assistants are required to complete, every
two years, one (1) CEU. This must be obtained within 24 months before the odd

education and is needed in the same period as continuing education.
No more than 50% of continuing education can be taken
through online courses / study at home. The jurisprudence exam is worth 1 hour
of continuing education credit and counts as an online course.
Arkansas
Chiropractic Board Trying to Stop
Physical
Therapist from Manipulation
The Board
of Examiners of the State of Arkansas Chiropractic has fined physical therapy
Michael Teston, from Little Rock, Arkansas, for $ 10,000 to practice
chiropractic without a license. The action was based on claims that he had
manipulated the patient's spine. The Arkansas Physical Therapy Expert Council
has decided that Teston treatment is mobilization, not manipulation, and
therefore within the scope of legitimate physical therapy. However, the
chiropractic council concluded that the treatment was manipulation, which was
protected by chiropractors and trained doctors. Mastery of the chiropractic
board was part of a long-term chiropractic campaign intended to stop physical
therapists from doing chiropractic that was considered chiropractic. About two
years ago, the American Chiropractic Association attempted (unsuccessfully) to
prevent Medicare from paying for manipulations by physical therapists.
