Physical therapy
Physical therapy is one of the most common forms of
conservative care experienced by back and spinal patients to relieve symptoms.
Through pain management and physical therapy, most patients can reduce or
eliminate the need for surgery. For patients who have not responded to physical
therapy for several months, other options such as surgery can be considered.
Through a doctor's referral, the physical therapist will
work with patients to develop a range of therapies and modalities in the office
that can be combined with a home exercise health plan to help increase range of
motion and reduce pain.
A series of examples of home health exercises are also
listed on our site.

Physical Therapy Services
Physical therapists diagnose, manage, and treat disorders of
the musculoskeletal and nerve systems. Physical therapists use a variety of
medical equipment and modalities, as well as manual skills, to treat various
injuries and conditions. The main goals of physical therapy include reducing
pain, restoring mobility, and increasing overall functional levels.
Subspecialties include spinal rehabilitation, hand rehabilitation, post-operative
care, aquatic therapy, pediatric and geriatric orthopedic rehabilitation and
work injury management.
Physical therapists work closely with doctors to help people
recover from injury, disability or surgery and return to their normal activities.

Physical Therapy Services
A physical therapist, under the direction and medical
direction of a doctor, works with patients to assist in the recovery process
after an injury or surgery. Using a variety of equipment and therapeutic
modalities, they can help develop plans for patients to improve long-term
health and rehabilitate injured bones, muscles, and tendons. Reducing pain,
restoring mobility, and improving overall function are the main priorities of a
physical therapist.
Successful
PT regimens will not only speed up the healing and rehabilitation process for
injured or repaired body parts, but will ultimately help strengthen the site to
reduce the possibility of future injuries. The aim is to finally return
patients to the same level of activity they experienced before injury.
Initially, a physical therapist might use modalities that aim to reduce
swelling and gradually restore the range of motion. Then, proprioception
exercises allow patients to restore function and balance when they
"re-learn" feelings about how neighboring muscles and bones work
together with rehabilitated body parts. For ankle or knee injuries, for
example, this might mean a one-legged balance training exercise that helps
improve coordination and strength.
Campbell
Clinic specializes in orthopedic and sports medicine physical therapy services,
including spinal rehabilitation, rehabilitation of sports injuries,
postoperative care, aquatic therapy, orthotic / splinting, pediatric and
geriatric orthopedic rehabilitation and work injury management. Physical
therapy is offered at our five locations (Germantown, Medical Center,
Southaven, Spine Center, and Collierville).
